Advanced Search

Use Advanced Search to enter a combination of search categories including keyword, title, subject, author, ISBN and more. Use the drop down menu to select the desired categories, enter your term(s) and click on the Search button or hit the Enter key to run your search.

By default, LINKcat will search for all of the search terms entered.

You can change the dropdown menu (the box labeled and) between your terms to modify your search in other ways.

Use Or to search either of two search terms at the same time. For example, to search eagles or hawks:

    • Type eagles in the first search bar.
    • Type hawks in the second search bar.
    • Change the And between the search terms to Or.
    • Be sure that the category drop-down is set to the correct word in both boxes (for example, Keyword or Title).

Choose Not to remove searches with the second word. For example, to search titles that contain the word eagles but are not rock music:

    • Type eagles in the first search bar.
    • Type rock music in the second search bar.
    • Change the And between the search terms to Not.
    • Be sure that the category drop-down is set to the correct word in both boxes (for example, Keyword or Title).

Additional Options:

  • Add more search boxes by using the “+” button, located after the third search box, above the Search button.
  • Use the drop-down menus under Subtype to limit by publication date or date range, language, audience, type of content, or format (CD, DVD, etc.).
  • Limit to items owned by a certain library.
  • Choose a sort for your search results.
